The Swiss Railway (SBB) and MyHandicap Switzerland have concluded an agreement in order to allow people with reduced mobility accessible and barrier-free traveling.

Through this cooperation with MyHandicap, a service sector was created on the internet portal. Apart from a Board of discussion – supervised by mobility experts -, this service also includes an editorial section, with articles touching on various issues such as traveling and disabilities.

The Board of discussion offers people with disabilities, as well as their relatives, the opportunity to share their experiences, connect with other people and ask mobility-related questions, which mobility experts will address competently on a voluntary basis.

“We are happy to have found a strong partner with the Swiss Railway, who takes the interests of the people with disabilities very seriously and addresses their enquiries directly”, says Dr. Albert Frieder, executive director at MyHandicap Switzerland.

In this way, people with reduced mobility can call the SBB Call Center and ask for free assistance for getting on and off the trains in the 174 support stations around Switzerland. A great number of low-floor trains significantly facilitate traveling. Further, the Call Center provides information concerning accessibility in train stations. For people with hearing impairment, the SBB is offering induction loop amplifiers, modern display panels and monitors.

The SBB wishes to encourage people with disabilities to discover railway traveling as an important means of transportation. We offer you the possibility to plan your journey and to follow the latest developments during your holiday, directly on your tablet or your mobile phone.
