A severe spinal injury with spinal cord injury in the neck area has fatal consequences. In most cases, the patient loses all the important functions of the upper extremities or the mobility of the upper extremities is greatly limited. The person usually has no feeling in the arms and legs anymore. Eating with standard fork and knife, dressing alone or writing a letter on the PC – for people with an upper spinal cord injury, the easiest things in all-day life seem to be extremely difficult. At this point, holistic rehabilitation through occupational therapy begins. Through intense and regular exercises, it is almost always possible to regain a part of the lost abilities. This gives back the patient some independence again.
