About us

The Foundation MyHandicap.com is charged with the task of improving the lives of people with disabilities and severe illnesses. We inform and motivate, but most of all we show how you can lead a life of fulfillment and contentment with a physical or psychological disability.

International MyHandicap-Network

MyHandicap.com is a not for profit organisation that was called to life in 2004 to improve the quality of life for people living with a disability or severe illness. The foundation headquarters is in Feusisberg in Zurich, Switzerland and was founded by Joachim Schoss, who is famous for founding the Scout24 internet auction portal. Through no fault of his own he lost his right arm and leg in a traffic accident while on vacation in South Africa in 2002. It was then as Joachim tried to rebuild his life that he realized how difficult it was to find information for living with a disability. Since then he devotes a lot of time to support people who share a similar fate. In doing so the foundation MyHandicap.com is not a supporter of isolated or specific cases, but mainly concentrates its resources on information, advice and motivation for people with a disability and their relatives.

A wide Network

Although MyHandicap is only in existence since 2004 it has already built up a wide network of specialists and competent partners who through many years of experience can provide valuable information to all questions on the topic of living with a disability. MyHandicap.de is active in Germany and has already made a noticeable impact for people living in Germany. With their “Ambassador” service they are helping those who have recently become paralyzed or suffered another severe blow of fate. This is a peer to peer concept, whereby the Ambassador is someone who has learned to live with a similar problem and is a source of hope and motivation for the concerned person. Myhandicap.ch (Switzerland) concentrates on providing up to date and relevant information on all aspects of living with a disability.
