Why me?

The first reaction that a unlucky stroke of fate releases in a concerned person is often one of anger - anger against the imaginary cause of the misfortune.

"Why me?"

This is the question most asked by people who are in such a phase of anger and disapointment. „ Who is responsible for this life, which has just been made so difficult – does somebody have something against me, a higher power perhaps? Does someone want to test or punish me?“

Time and again the people who are on the side of those who have just been confronted with a disability or sickness, whether relatives, friends, medical or care profession or social succour like pyschologists, social workers or spiritual counsellors are posed this question and often ask themselves "Why exactly her / him?".

MyHandicap attempts to take a closer look at this topic from different perspectives. In the following pages we repeatedly ask specialists, volunteers and also those affected as well as their relatives – and receive some surprising answers. Perhaps you will also find access to your situation and your own totally individual answer. A golden answer, that one can assert with certainty does not exist, at least as long as a higher power of life remains uncertain for all of us.

A small tip:

Take a look through the Role Models section of our website and read how happy, exciting and successful life as a disabled person can be. Because happiness, contentness and success are dependent on a persons perspective and not on circumstances, but rather what one makes out of them!
