IWA logo

Irish Wheelchair Association is a national voluntary organisation advocating for social, educational and economic integration of people with physical disability into mainstream Irish society. IWA, founded in 1960 by five people who used wheelchairs, now has 20’000 members and is a major national provider of services through its network of regional centres.   The role of the IWA is:

• To advocate for change, locally and nationally, by representing the issues and concerns of adults and children with limited mobility;
• To research, develop and pilot new concepts of service delivery;
• To deliver services in partnership with state agencies.

On their website you will find a vast amount of information about every aspect of living with a disability, from vehicle adaptations to accessible holidays in Ireland. This is a great source of information for anyone living in Ireland or for those just planning on making a trip to the Green Island!
